BC Bid

BC Bid is the Province of British Columbia's online procurement marketplace — the platform where BC government buyers post solicitation opportunities and suppliers register, bid and track contract awards. If you sell to any public sector organization in BC, this is where the paper flows.

What it is

Per the Province of British Columbia, BC Bid is a modern online marketplace where buyers can post solicitation opportunities and suppliers can bid on those opportunities. The public portal lets anyone browse current opportunities, contract awards, and unverified bid results without logging in. Suppliers register to e-bid on government contracts, manage submissions, and subscribe to commodity notifications — and per the BC Bid portal, there is no charge to register as a supplier. Bidding requires logging in with a BCeID (a Business BCeID for supplier organizations).

Who uses it

BC government ministries use BC Bid to run procurement events, and the platform is also open to British Columbia broader public sector (BPS) buyers — municipal governments, school districts, health authorities, Crown corporations and BC First Nations. That means a single BC Bid feed mixes provincial, municipal, education and health-sector solicitations, so filtering by organization and category matters when you monitor it.

What it means for vendors

Register with a Business BCeID before you need to bid — incomplete or incorrect registrations can block login at the worst moment. Subscribe to commodity notifications so opportunities reach you instead of waiting for you to search. Award data on BC Bid is public, so use it the way federal contract disclosure data is used: see which organizations buy what you sell and who currently holds the work.

Common questions

How is BC Bid different from MERX or Biddingo?

MERX and Biddingo are private multi-buyer aggregators that carry tenders from many jurisdictions (and charge for some features). BC Bid is the BC government's own platform — free to register and bid — and it is the official posting and award venue for BC provincial ministries and participating BPS buyers. Many BC opportunities also appear on aggregators, but the authoritative record lives on BC Bid.

Do I need BC Bid for BC municipalities?

Often yes: municipalities and other BPS organizations in BC are among the buyer groups using the platform, but some still post on their own sites or aggregators. Check the buyer's own procurement page as well.
