CanadaBuys registration and login: the supplier guide to Canada’s federal tender portal
CanadaBuys is where the Government of Canada publishes its tender and award notices, and where federal suppliers register to bid — through an SAP Business Network (SAP Ariba) account. Here is what changed in 2026, the full registration flow, how login works, and how government buyers post notices.
What CanadaBuys is
CanadaBuys is Public Services and Procurement Canada’s (PSPC) suite of online procurement services, and it is the official source for Government of Canada tender and award notices. The Tender opportunities page carries notices from PSPC, other Government of Canada departments and agencies, Crown corporations, organizations from the broader Canadian public service, and even the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) — new tender notices are posted daily. Two search mechanics matter if you are prospecting: notices are indexed by commodity code (UNSPSC or GSIN), so searching by code beats guessing keywords, and NSPA notices carry a 24-hour publishing delay on CanadaBuys, which makes the NSPA eProcurement portal the authoritative source for NATO tenders. Canada has also introduced a Buy Canadian Policy that prioritizes Canadian suppliers, materials and innovation — federal buyers are being directed to weigh it in sourcing decisions. For the platform overview, see our CanadaBuys meaning explainer. What changed in 2026: SRI is gone, SAP Business Network is the registration door
On July 6, 2026, PSPC decommissioned the Supplier Registration Information (SRI) system — it no longer accepts new registrations or updates. A supplier seeking to do business with the Government of Canada must now: register for an account and complete a company profile in the SAP Business Network (the SAP Ariba tool CanadaBuys runs on), and hold a valid Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) business number. One rule trips up a lot of businesses: you can only have one SAP Business Network account per CRA business number. If your organization created duplicates, contact the CanadaBuys Service Desk, name the account you will use, and they will deactivate the others — deactivated accounts come out of the CanadaBuys system but remain on the SAP Business Network. The account’s legal (company) name is not editable after creation, so verify it against CRA’s GST/HST Registry Search before you type it in. Our SAP Ariba bidding guide covers the bidding side once you are registered. How to register on CanadaBuys, step by step
Registration runs through PSPC’s own SAP Business Network registration page — use that link (not a generic ariba.com one) so PSPC is added to your customer list. The flow: (1) click “Continue to SAP Business Network”; (2) enter company information — legal name, head-office country and address; (3) create the user account — main user name, email, a username in email format, password, notification language, and the “Email orders to” address (a distribution list works); (4) select at least one product and service category; (5) agree to the Terms of Use and SAP Business Network Privacy Statement, then click Register; (6) open the activation email and click Activate. That account lets you view opportunities — to actually bid you complete the Government of Canada questionnaire (Company Profile → “Customer requested” tab → Government of Canada / Gouvernement du Canada). Questions 3 to 8 are required to submit a bid. Question 9 is the full registration: CRA business number plus financial information — Canadian suppliers are paid by direct deposit (void cheque or bank confirmation letter required), non-Canadian suppliers by wire (BIC/SWIFT, IBAN, bank control key). Question 12, Cyber Security Certification, applies only to defence suppliers touching CPCSC or CMMC certification. Your company profile also needs mandatory fields before you can bid: product/service categories, ship-to address and service locations, and employee count. The main account user is the administrator and must have access to payment information to complete question 9; you can add up to 2,000 users with roles later, and your Ariba Network ID (ANID) lives under the initials drop-down → Company Profile. Joint ventures register a JV account under the lead business and declare each member business’s business number in question 5. Supplier login goes through the CanadaBuys site, not a bookmarked SAP URL: click Account access in the top navigation, then “Log into SAP Business Network” under Businesses and public, then “Continue to SAP Business Network,” then the Login button, then your credentials. SAP Business Network logs you out automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity — save drafts as you go in long questionnaires. Buyers are the other side of “posting on Canada Buys”: a single CanadaBuys account login gives access to the procurement tools — the Tender Management Application (TMA), which buyers outside PSPC use to create and publish tender and award notices; SAP Ariba and SAP Fieldglass, which PSPC buyers use from sourcing to award; and ServiceNow for Service Desk tickets. Buyer accounts are requested through the Service Desk email form (choose “Account login / password resets”), and buyers are auto-registered for training once approved. Since January 30, 2026 the Buyer’s Portal is the official source of information for the Acquisitions Program, and the PSPC Supply Manual has been archived. As of 2026-11-06 our CanadaBuys portal lane tracks federal opportunity volume in real time.Frequently asked questions
How do I contact the CanadaBuys Service Desk?
The CanadaBuys Service Desk is the designated service desk for the Government of Canada’s electronic procurement solution, reached from canadabuys.canada.ca/en/support — it handles technical help with the procurement applications, including the Tender Management Application and SAP Ariba, plus duplicate-account and business-number validation cases. For help understanding the federal procurement process or registering for a procurement business number, PSPC also publishes the national Procurement Access Centre email ([email protected]) and the Procura chatbot (beta).
Do you need a CRA business number to bid on CanadaBuys?
No — you do not need a business number to submit a bid. A CRA business number is required only prior to contract award, or issuance of a standing offer or supply arrangement. PSPC still recommends completing the full registration (question 9) early, because doing it after you win creates delays at the award stage. Canadian businesses without a business number register through the CRA’s Business Registration Online service; non-Canadian suppliers use the Non-Resident Business Number and Account Registration web form.
How do I find tender opportunities on CanadaBuys?
Search the Tender opportunities page with keywords, a department or agency name, or commodity codes (UNSPSC or GSIN) — the more specific the search, the fewer the results. You can subscribe to a tender notice or a saved search and get updates by email or web feed, which is how most sellers track new postings instead of re-searching daily. Contract history and open data are downloadable too, so you can see who bought what before you bid. Our Canadian government tender sites list shows where CanadaBuys fits alongside provincial portals like SaskTenders, BC Bid and SEAO.
Do all Government of Canada bids go through SAP Ariba?
Most do, but not all. Some opportunities continue to require bid submission through other methods, such as a bid receiving unit or through Canada Post Connect — the tender notice itself tells you which channel applies. Professional-services suppliers should also check the sourcing tools for professional services (including ProServices), which are separate from the SAP Business Network bidding flow. If you bid as part of a joint venture, the JV registers its own account under the lead business rather than reusing a member’s account.
